In the German-speaking world, there are a large number of institutions and organisations working on the nexus of climate change and health and active in the field of planetary health. Their work is central to contributing to a better understanding and acting as a catalyst for the necessary measures to address climate change from the perspective of the health sciences and the healthcare sector.
Given the relevance of this topic and the great importance of stronger exchange between research and educational institutions active in this field, as well as practitioners, there is a cross-national need for specialist events where this community can come together to discuss and present their work in this rapidly growing field.
Against this backdrop, the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences, and the Landeskrankenhaus Villach (KABEG), with the support of the Interdisciplinary Expert Centre for Climate Change and Health (IECCCH), the International Climate Change Information and Research Programme (ICCIRP), the Climate Change Centre Austria (CCCA), the Competence Centre for Climate and Health at Gesundheit Österreich GmbH (GÖG), the Allgemeine Unfallversicherungsanstalt (AUVA), Diakonie de La Tour, the Austrian Association of Green Hospitals (ÖVGK), and
Health for Future Austria (H4F), are organising the specialist symposium "Climate Change, Health and Resilience: current trends and future developments in teaching, research and practice".
The deadline for abstract submissions has been moved to 30 April 2023. Based on the submissions, a Springer publication is planned, which will be made available free of charge to all participants afterwards.
There is also an early bird discount until the end of May 2023: for full-price tickets this is €190 (instead of €220), and for students €85 (instead of €100).
The event will take place on 21–22 September 2023 at the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences, Villach Campus (Austria).
