In December 2020, 50 of the world's leading biodiversity and climate experts, selected by a 12-member scientific steering committee from the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), took part in a four-day virtual workshop to identify synergies and trade-offs between biodiversity conservation and climate protection as well as climate change adaptation. This is the first collaboration between the two intergovernmental science-policy bodies. The report on biodiversity and climate change, co-sponsored by IPBES and IPCC, was presented at a virtual press conference on 10 June 2021.
