Strategies for the climate crisis: Pontifical Academies to host climate summit in Vienna

On 28/29 August, Vienna will play host to a high-level international climate summit focusing on regional and local strategies for dealing with the climate crisis. Adaptation and societal transformation are at the heart of the event, with regional conferences on all continents set to follow.

Under the title "From Climate Crisis to Climate Resilience in Europe at Local and Regional Levels", the Pontifical Academy of Sciences (PAS) and the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences (PASS), together with European partners, are inviting attendees to the two-day, high-profile event at the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW).

The aim is to develop strategies for climate change adaptation and resilience at local and regional level – with a focus on cities, regions and their vulnerability to heatwaves, floods, droughts and other extreme events, as stated in the programme.
