Here's a brief glimpse into the anniversary fact sheet:
"In the case studies, qualitative interviews were conducted in two differently structured ski areas: in the Skicircus region of Saalbach-Hinterglemm-Leogang-Fieberbrunn (Salzburg) and in Annaberg (Lower Austria).
While the Skicircus, with 270 kilometres of slopes and 70 lifts represents one of the largest ski regions in Austria, Annaberg has 12.5km of slopes and 7 lifts. Annaberg is already undergoing more significant change than the Skicircus region. In the summer of 2015, Annaberg recorded twice as many guest arrivals as in the winter season. Positive effects of climate change have also already been observed here: the hot summer of 2015 saw many last-minute bookings from city dwellers looking to escape the urban heat. The Skicircus region is oriented in a completely different direction. It targets an international audience and continues to expand ski tourism. In Saalbach-Hinterglemm in particular, 72% of overnight stays still fall in the winter season, which continues to generate 80% of the region's added value.
The climatic conditions in the two regions also differ considerably: Annaberg is situated at an altitude of 843m (valley station) – 1,334m (mountain station; for the future, a loss of ski days due to lack of snow is projected at 25% (by 2025) to 50% (by 2050). The Skicircus region is situated considerably higher, at 1,000–2,100m, meaning no significant loss of ski days is expected by 2025. After 2025, however, technological innovations in snowmaking will also be required here, involving a massive use of energy and water, in order to offset the effects of climate change. ..."
