The Heat Action Day (HAT25) was awarded the Innovation and Sustainability Award of the Austrian Association of Green Hospitals on 6 May 2025. The jury justified their decision as follows: "The project stands out for its broad awareness-raising and wide-reaching impact. Particularly noteworthy are the networking and bottom-up approach, as well as the involvement of many different stakeholders. Through the annually recurring organisation of this event, a sustainable, broad sensitisation of the population is achieved. The voluntary work of the organisers is also particularly commendable."
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the jury:

The first Heat Action Day in Austria takes place on 4 June 2025! Join in!
Heat is the greatest health risk in Austria caused by climate change. According to Gesundheit Österreich GmbH, hospital admissions due to heat-related illnesses increase by around 27 per cent during exceptionally hot summers. Heat affects everyone and can put anyone at risk. This risk will continue to grow in the coming years.
The Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection published the new "National Heat Protection Plan Austria" in June 2024. However, awareness of the dangers of heat and the measures for protecting particularly vulnerable individuals is still insufficient at the level of cities, municipalities, institutions and organisations.
It's time to change that! That's why the first Austrian Heat Action Day is held under the motto: "Heat Protection Plan for EVERYONE": Taking heat hazards seriously – implementing heat protection consistently.
Networking is at the very heart of the Heat Action Day. Because heat protection can only be advanced together. Every event, every activity taking place as part of the Heat Action Day 2025, can make a real difference.
We'd love for you to get involved, whether as an organisation or as an individual!
