Topics for a new APCC Special Report – 13th ACRP Call

The Climate and Energy Fund has approached the APCC working group with a request to suggest new topics for a Special Report in the 13th ACRP Call.

We're asking you, as experts, to help us find new topic proposals.

Here you'll find the templates to fill in in pdf and word format, which will help you with formulating a topic.

We'd like to ask you to send one of these templates by Monday, 02 March 2020 to alexandra.goed@ccca.ac.at

The aim is to identify 3 topics with draft text proposals that we can submit to the Climate and Energy Fund.

Criteria for a new Special Report are:

  • Consideration of mitigation, adaptation and climate impacts
  • Social/political relevance of the topic
  • Critical mass of motivated scientists
  • Sufficient breadth across the boundaries of scientific disciplines
  • The scientific community is large enough to cover the topic comprehensively
  • A sufficient quantity and quality of existing, usable studies, literature, etc. is available
  • The willingness of the community is present to develop an APCC product
  • Funding by stakeholders/funders is possible

At the APCC Working Group meeting 18_01/19_01 and the 10th General Assembly of CCCA 2018, the following topics were collected, though most of them only partially — and some barely — meet the stated criteria, and are therefore intended for information purposes only:

  • Fauna & climate change
  • Migration & climate change
  • Governance & climate change
  • Spatial planning & climate change
  • Construction and building sector & climate change
  • Socio-economic processes & climate change
  • Consumption & climate change
  • Intergenerational Justice & climate change
  • Climate Justice & climate change
  • Water & climate change (glaciers, extreme events, etc.)
  • Energy supply under climate change conditions for Austria: decarbonisation 2050 incl. climate impacts
  • What does the global 1.5°C target mean for Austria? Mitigation, adaptation, impacts, vulnerability
  • Climate change and investment/innovation for sustainable infrastructure
  • Managing climate risks in Austria

Roadmap

  • 18 February: Special broadcast via MG-Info and CCCA newsletter as well as e-mail to CCCA member representatives/members of the APCC Working Group
  • 02 March: Feedback from the community
  • 05 March to 12 March: APCC Working Group develops a proposal by circulation
  • 12 March to 18 March: Topics approved on the basis of the APCC Working Group by the CCCA Board
  • 19 March: Submission of topics to the Climate and Energy Fund

Your involvement in identifying topics is crucial.
We look forward to hearing from you!
