Two new CCCA working groups "European Research in the Climate Field" and "Climate Walks" established

The WG European Research in the Climate Field (WG EF) is actively committed to co-shaping the European Research Area in order to help make future framework programmes such as Horizon Europe 2028–2034 climate-friendly and sustainable. Given the increasing technological focus at EU level, it is crucial to take a stance early and feed coordinated feedback from the CCCA community into consultation processes. The aim is to raise the visibility of key climate and sustainability topics and to strengthen the Austrian research landscape. A core group also enables swift responses to international enquiries.

The second working group recently established, named WG Climate Walks, is developing an inter- and transdisciplinary format that uses the method of walking together to make local climate contexts tangible, foster exchange and generate new solutions for climate protection and climate change adaptation. The aim is to build a community of practice, gather practical experience and produce a handbook for science and practice. Planned activities include conducting Climate Walks, synthesising existing findings and publishing a scientific paper.
