How can climate change be taught in physics, chemistry or biology lessons whilst specifically addressing pupils' preconceptions to support students in developing a scientific understanding?
One approach is the climate change tutorials developed in the Engaging project by Sarah Wildbichler, Thomas Schubatzky and colleagues from the universities of Bochum, Dresden and Leuven. The latest issue of The Physics Teacher features an article examining the pedagogical concepts behind the tutorials and investigating their learning effectiveness.
The climate change tutorials are freely available at https://engagingforclimate.eu/de/resources and can be used directly in the classroom.
