A year ago, Donald Trump was inaugurated for his second term as US President. Since then, there have been an enormous number of political upheavals.
When it comes to climate research in particular, the government has taken a red pen to funding. Research grants have been cut in some cases drastically, institutes have been closed — and most recently, the government announced its withdrawal from various bodies, including the IPCC, the world's leading scientific climate panel.
