The current exceptional situation can also be seen as an opportunity to rethink things. Right now, the potential for change offered by innovative projects is particularly great. Despite all the uncertainty, it's important to us this year as well to recognise outstanding mobility projects in order to drive the mobility transition forward together.

The VCÖ Mobility Award, Austria's largest competition for climate-compatible mobility and sustainable freight transport, demonstrates year after year through exemplary projects that the mobility transition is achievable. The submission phase for the VCÖ Mobility Award 2020, carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of Climate Protection and ÖBB, under the motto "Putting Transport on a Climate-Friendly Course", is now open.

What contribution can scientific research, dissertations and project work make to shaping mobility and freight transport in a climate-compatible and socially equitable way? From transport planning and innovative logistics concepts to economic cost-benefit analyses, technological developments and insights into human mobility behaviour — the VCÖ Mobility Award recognises innovative approaches that help drive forward the necessary mobility transition.
