"CliA – Austrian State Prize for Climate Change Adaptation" is heading into its second round this year, and you get a say in which projects receive the coveted award: the online vote is open until 5 March 2026 and your vote counts!
From nearly 80 submissions from across Austria, 14 projects have made it to the final. These address concrete consequences of climate change — from heatwaves to heavy rainfall events — and demonstrate how adaptation works in practice and which measures are already making a difference. You can vote for 11 projects across the following categories: "Flooding/Heavy Rainfall", "Heat/Drought", and "Climate Change Adaptation in Business". The final ranking of the projects will be determined 50 per cent by the online voting result and 50 per cent by the expert jury's assessment.
The state prize is awarded by the Ministry for the Environment and Climate (BMLUK) in cooperation with the Climate and Energy Fund, with technical support from the Environment Agency Austria and backing from the Raiffeisen Sustainability Initiative.
