On 26 April, more than 180 experts discussed the importance of intellectual property rights for green future technologies. The online event was organised by aws.

Vienna. (OTS) - The question of how to counter the impacts of climate change has been a focus of global attention for years. To achieve the goals of the EU's Green Deal or the Paris Climate Agreement, the development and utilisation of resource-efficient green technologies play a key role.

These green technologies are also essential for Austria as a hub of innovation. Due to their enormous strategic importance, how the intellectual property behind them can be protected and exploited was therefore the focus of this year's World IP Day. The event is organised by aws on behalf of the National Contact Point for Intellectual Property (NCP-IP) and was held entirely online for the first time this year.

Research, innovation protection and technology transfer closely linked

The great importance of knowledge transfer and the protection and exploitation of intellectual property was already emphasised in the opening statements by the responsible ministers. The NCP-IP operates on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research (BMBWF), the Federal Ministry for Digital and Economic Affairs (BMDW) and the Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK). Operational implementation is carried out by aws and FFG.
