1) Contributions for the general scientific sessions (submission closed)

back to overview

As in previous years, researchers from all disciplines with links to the topics of climate change and transformation are invited to submit their research projects. To make the discussions at the Klimatag as well-founded as possible, we ask you to submit sufficiently advanced projects that already have results to present. If your project is not at this stage at the time of the conference, we warmly invite you to submit it for the next Klimatag.

In the online portal, you can upload text sections and one figure for your abstract, structured into the fields Topic, Methods, Results, and Figure. Each text field must contain at least 1,000 characters. The remaining characters can be distributed across the three text fields as you see fit. The text must not exceed a total of 5,500 characters including spaces.

Abstracts uploaded to the online portal will be reviewed after the submission deadline (Friday, 25 October 2024, 11 pm) by at least 2 thematically relevant reviewers and the Klimatag programme committee.

Information on the acceptance of contributions as well as the Klimatag programme will be communicated to submitting authors by e-mail and published on the Klimatag website, expected mid-February 2025.

Answers to frequently asked questions about submitting to the general scientific sessions can be found here.

Our goal for the 25th Austrian Klimatag is to break away from the traditional presentation format in the third scientific session on the first day of the conference and create space for new, innovative presentation formats. As usual, each scientific session will feature 4–5 scientific contributions of 10–15 minutes each, and this applies to this format as well. Innovative presentation formats should be submitted under "Contributions for the general scientific sessions".

We're looking for innovative and creative presentation methods that actively engage the audience and communicate scientific content in an entertaining way. We encourage the submission of diverse contributions that can encompass a variety of presentation formats, such as:

  • Storytelling: Tell the story of your scientific project in the form of a captivating narrative and take the audience on an inspiring journey.
  • Film screenings: Present your research in a short film that uses visual elements to convey your message.
  • Science Slam: Present your research in a fun and lively Science Slam, where you enthuse the audience in a short amount of time.
  • Quiz questions and interactive games: Test the audience's knowledge and encourage active participation with quiz questions or interactive games.
  • Use of presentation software: Make use of tools like Mentimeter or other interactive presentation methods to actively involve the audience.
  • Live demonstrations with the audience: Carry out experiments or demonstrations live and invite the audience to take part.

If you'd like to present in an innovative way, please select the option "innovative format" under "Preferred type of presentation". To give us a better idea of your presentation approach, we ask you to briefly describe your chosen presentation format in around 5 sentences in the text field "Presentation format". We need this information for programme planning.

Should no suitable presentation formats be submitted or accepted, we will organise a conventional interdisciplinary scientific session.

2) Contributions to the ACRP quality assurance for the year 2025 in the presence of the ACRP Steering Committee (submission closed)

Back to overview

Selected project leaders of sufficiently advanced ACRP projects are required to present their project results to the ACRP Steering Committee at the Klimatag. This will take place within the ACRP Sessions. The selected project leaders are invited to give an overview of their ACRP project in the form of a talk. The ACRP Sessions will be held in English

In addition, the well-known poster talks for networking will take place during the coffee and lunch breaks. ACRP project leaders are also invited to present a poster about their ACRP project, to make the ACRP project visible to all conference participants.

The aim of the ACRP Sessions is to carry out ACRP quality assurance by the ACRP Steering Committee in a compact format.

The Climate and Energy Fund will send a direct message to the selected project leaders in autumn 2024 regarding their selection to present as part of the ACRP quality assurance.

In the online portal, you can upload text components and a figure for your abstract, structured into the fields Topic, Method, Results, and Figure. A minimum of 1,000 characters must be entered in each text field. The remaining characters can be distributed across the three text fields according to individual preference. The text must not exceed a total of max. 5,500 characters including spaces. Please also focus your abstract on the challenges and changes that arose during the project period.

Are you still working on other projects and would like to present these results to a wider audience? You have the option of submitting to the category "Contributions for the general scientific sessions" for the Klimatag. Funded ACRP projects that were not selected for ACRP quality assurance at the Klimatag in 2025 are also warmly invited to submit research results in the category "Contributions for the general scientific sessions".

3) Contributions for the CCCA Early Career Researcher Award 2025 (submission closed)

Back to overview

The annual CCCA Early Career Researcher Award will also be presented at the 25th Klimatag. With this award, CCCA aims to spotlight and recognise the scientific achievements of early career researchers. Submissions are made via a scientific publication, which will be evaluated by renowned scientists. Every applicant will receive written feedback on their submitted paper.

The highest-rated paper will be awarded a prize of € 1,000 at the Klimatag and presented in a talk in a scientific session. The prize will only be awarded to the author who is present at the award ceremony, or to a representative.

After successfully completing the review process, the aim is to give all other submitted scientific publications a presence at the Klimatag in the form of poster presentations during the lunch and coffee breaks.

To submit your research project for the CCCA Early Career Researcher Award at the Klimatag, please submit under the category "Contributions for the CCCA Early Career Researcher Award 2025".

The abstracts uploaded in the online portal will be assessed by at least 2 thematically appropriate reviewers and the Klimatag programme committee after the submission deadline (Friday, 25 October 2024, 11 pm)

The award winner will be notified by e-mail approximately mid-February 2025 and the corresponding paper will be visible on the Klimatag website.
