The 26th Klimatag will take place from Wednesday, 8 April 2026 to Friday, 10 April 2026 at the University of Vienna Biology Building of the University of Vienna.

  • What language will the Klimatag be held in?

The conference will be held in German. Presentations in the scientific sessions as well as poster talks during coffee and lunch breaks can, if needed, be given in English. Please let us know at klimatag@ccca.ac.at if you'd like to give your presentation in English. We need this information for the briefing of the session chairs.

In addition, the ACRP quality assurance session will be held entirely in English.

  • Is it still possible to submit a project?

The call for abstracts for the 26th Klimatag has been closed since autumn 2025.

The call for abstracts for the general scientific sessions, the ACRP quality assurance for 2027, and for the CCCA Early Career Award is expected to open in autumn 2026. Sign up for the CCCA Newsletter so you don't miss out!

  • Is the Klimatag an event just for scientists?

The Austrian Klimatag places a particular focus on cooperation and dialogue with stakeholders from policy, public administration, and research funding. In addition to serving as an interdisciplinary networking event for the climate research community, the Klimatag also facilitates exchange with business representatives, practitioners, and the interested public.

  • How does the Klimatag aim to contribute to "climate friendly climate research"?

The Klimatag is organised according to the Green Meeting criteria of the Austrian Ecolabel, thereby meeting the highest environmental standards. The many efforts include climate-friendly catering, offsetting of resulting CO2 emissions, and avoiding printed materials. You can support our efforts by choosing low-emission modes of transport for your journey, such as train, bus, or carpooling. Further information on the Green Meeting can be found here.

  • Will photos and/or videos be taken of participants at the Klimatag?

Yes, photos and/or videos of participants will be taken during the Klimatag for documentation purposes. If you have any feedback or questions about this, please get in touch with us at klimatag@ccca.ac.at.

  • I'm giving a presentation or a flash talk / presenting a poster at the Klimatag. Do I still need to register?

Yes, presenters and speakers are also asked to register for the Klimatag via the online portal

  • Is there a conference fee?

The Klimatag has grown into CCCA's central networking event and is very well attended. Networking and exchange in a relaxed atmosphere are a key aspect, and we want to make sure the catering is up to scratch too. However, this does require adequate funding to ensure the right level of quality. We therefore charge a participation fee of €140 for attending the Klimatag 2026. A reduced fee of €90 applies for students.

Programme

back to overview

  • Where can I find the programme?

You can find the programme here

The programme is subject to change, as it is continuously being updated for you.

Scientific Sessions Format

back to overview

  • How does a scientific session work?

Each session is moderated by a session chair, who is responsible for the thematic introduction, keeping to the schedule, and leading the discussion.

Each session typically features 3 to 5 specialist presentations. Scientific Sessions II and IV also include 2 additional flash talks. The allocation of contributions was carried out by the programme committee, which grouped the submitted topics into coherent thematic clusters.

After each presentation, or after every second flash talk, the audience has the opportunity to engage in professional exchange with the presenters through questions and comments.

Note: This year, the flash talk format has been introduced for the first time. A flash talk is a very short, concise presentation of a research project (04 minutes). Only the absolute highlights of the project should be presented. A classic structure of introduction, methodology, results, and discussion is explicitly not desired. The flash talk should provide a quick overview, spark interest, and encourage further exchange.

  • What do I need to keep in mind when preparing my presentation?

We'd like to point out that participants at the Klimatag come from various disciplines. To make your presentation accessible to a broad audience, we've put together a summary slide. We ask you to include this slide at the beginning of your presentation to help ease attendees into the topic. The font size can be adjusted as needed. The slide has been sent to you by e-mail.

Presentations within the scientific sessions are allocated 10 minutes of speaking time and 5 minutes for discussion. Please stick to the time limits. Based on the maximum speaking time, we also recommend preparing no more than 10 slides per presentation. Please use 16:9 format for your slides. We'd also ask you to prepare your slides in the language of your presentation so the audience can follow along more easily.

Additionally, during submission we asked you to tick the SDGs that are addressed in your research project. We ask you to also make the SDGs visible on your presentation slides. The icons for the respective SDGs have been sent to you by e-mail.

  • What language should I give my presentation in?

The preferred language for the scientific sessions is German; however, presentations can also be given in English if needed. Please let us know by the time you submit your presentation slides at the latest.

  • Where can I find the presentation slides of the submitted contributions?

The presentation slides will be made publicly available on our website after the Klimatag has taken place, provided we have received approval from the presenters. You'll find them under the Programme tab, within the respective session.

  • How were the contributions reviewed?

Contributions for the "general scientific sessions" went through the Klimatag review process and were assessed by at least 2 suitably qualified reviewers. The Klimatag programme committee compiled the Klimatag programme on the basis of the reviewers' evaluations.

Flash Talk Schedule

back to overview

  • When do the Flash Talks take place?

After each presentation, or after every second Flash Talk, the audience has the opportunity to engage in a professional exchange with the presenters through questions and comments.

Note: This year, the Flash Talk format has been introduced for the first time. A Flash Talk is a very short, concise presentation of a research project (04 minutes). Only the absolute highlights of the project should be presented. A classic structure of introduction, methodology, results, and discussion is expressly not desired. The Flash Talk should provide a quick overview, spark interest, and encourage further exchange.
