On 20.09.2019, the Week for Future kicked off with international rallies. Across Austria, numerous NGOs organised a range of actions and events between 20.09 and 27.09.2019, which were compiled at www.klimaprotest.at.
Your Place for the Future – Launch of the Global Climate Strike
On 20 September, decentralised actions took place in hundreds of locations across Austria – FFF mobilised 2,096 municipalities under the motto Austria for Future – Your Place for the Future in support of ambitious climate and environmental protection. Participants took a group photo holding up a sign reading "Für die Zukunft" ("For the Future") and sent it to FFF. You can find the photos here.
Week for Future Programme
Throughout the week, Fridays For Future Vienna and numerous other civil society organisations launched actions to make the climate and environmental crisis more tangible. Each day offered insights into different topics, including both public actions and talks and discussions with Scientists For Future.
What's it like for researchers who have been grappling with these issues for decades? What drives them to work day in, day out for a better world?
All FUTURETALKS were moderated and organised by representatives of Fridays For Future, who gave their time voluntarily and out of their own commitment. A crowdfunding campaign was set up on Respekt.net to cover costs and infrastructure for larger events – every contribution counts. This allows FFF to remain independent.
