Information on the 2018 drought summer

On 24/05/2019, students around the world once again took to the streets to demonstrate for immediate action on climate protection. Right on time for the global day of action on 24 May, Scientists for Future provided the key information on the 2018 drought summer and its connection to climate change.

Scientists for Future see their role as backing up the protests with scientific evidence. That measures to protect the climate and biodiversity are wholly inadequate was already established in March in a statement supported by over 26,000 scientists. The problems have been known for decades, yet action has so far been taken only hesitantly. The 2018 drought summer in Europe can be understood as a sign of increasing weather extremes as a result of climate change.
