In times of climate crises around the globe and young people taking to the streets to demonstrate for bold climate policy in line with the 1.5°C target, environmental education is becoming increasingly important. Schools will continue to play a key role in raising awareness in the future.
There are already some teaching materials relating to the climate crisis, and in order to bring the quality of these materials onto a scientific footing, CCCA has launched a project to review teaching materials. We want to support educational institutions in fulfilling their educational mandate on the topic of "climate change".
Cooperation with Klimabündnis Österreich
Klimabündnis Österreich has long been running projects with schools and other educational institutions. As part of a cooperation between CCCA and Klimabündnis Österreich, teaching materials were reviewed by CCCA scientists over the summer of 2019 and are now available both as printed materials and for download online:
with contributions from: Jakob Mayer (Universität Graz), Udo Bachhiesl (TU Graz), Thomas Mach (TU Graz), Astrid Gühnemann (BOKU), Michael Monsberger (TU Graz), Martin Schlatzer (BOKU), Günter Getzinger (TU Graz)
with contributions from: Helga Kromp-Kolb (BOKU), Herbert Formayer (BOKU)
Wissenssnacks
The CCCA Wissenssnacks are also well suited for discussing a range of climate-relevant topics with pupils.
