Dear CCCA-News subscriber,
the Climate Change Centre Austria (CCCA) is a coordinating body for the promotion of climate research in Austria, currently networking 25 Austrian institutions.
With its new web presence, CCCA aims to provide a comprehensive source of information for everyone interested in the topic of climate change, which will be kept continuously up to date (in the future also in English).
The Austrian assessment report (Austrian Assessment Report 2014 – AAR14) is the result of the "Austrian Panel on Climate Change" (APCC) project, which was funded by the Climate and Energy Fund (duration June 2010 – October 2014).
Produced over three years of collaborative effort, this report provides an unprecedented, detailed scientific account — spanning more than 1,000 pages — of how climate change has already transformed Austria and how it will continue to do so. It also outlines wide-ranging measures for mitigation and adaptation, making it a valuable guide for decision-makers and the general public.
The public presentation of the report received widespread media coverage. A selection of press responses can be found at http://www.ccca.ac.at/de/service/presse/
Further information about the report and project, as well as the free download of the report, can be found on the CCCA website at <link de klimawissen apcc>www.ccca.ac.at/de/klimawissen/apcc/
StartClim2013: Climate Change Adaptation in Austria – Topic Area Water
Since 2012, the StartClim research programme has been focussing on the implementation of the national climate change adaptation strategy. On 18 September 2014, the project was officially concluded with a joint press release by BOKU and the Environment Agency Austria. On the StartClim website, you'll find links to the press release and general information about StartClim. In addition, all reports from previous StartClim phases are available for download there.
StartClim2014: Contributions to the Implementation of the Austrian Adaptation Strategy
Work on StartClim2014 got underway at the beginning of September 2014. Six projects are being funded this year, addressing various topics related to climate change adaptation in Austria and the implementation of the national adaptation strategy. Information about this year's projects and the institutions involved can be found at http://www.startclim.at/index.php?id=startclim2014 .
