Tourism and Climate Change (SRTourismus)

Tourism and Climate Change (SR19/SRTourismus)

The impacts of climate change are already being felt today and are undisputed in the scientific literature. The APCC Special Report "Tourism and Climate Change in Austria" (SR19/SRTourismus) is a comprehensive survey, summary, and assessment of the current state of research on the complex relationships between tourism, events, and climate change. As an assessment report, the SR19 is the second Special Report following the publication of the Austrian assessment report on climate change as a whole in 2014 (AAR14).

Tourism in Austria holds particular economic significance. For this reason, a detailed examination of the impacts of climate change is highly relevant. The tourism report provides a comprehensive insight into the subject and will include not only scientific findings but also contributions from stakeholders (from two specialist conferences). The results are presented in a way that speaks to political decision-makers, tourists, and the industry alike.

This project is funded by the Climate and Energy Fund and is being carried out as part of the "10th Call Austrian Climate Research Programme – ACRP" programme.
