14:30 - 15:00 Arrival
Occupied lecture halls and blocked roads are bringing the topic of the climate crisis into the media almost daily. More and more researchers are actively supporting the protests and/or engaging in civil disobedience themselves, for example as part of Scientist Rebellion. Is the leap of science from papers to the streets the anticipated societal tipping point? And what does it mean, as a young researcher, to show solidarity with activists or to engage in non-violent resistance yourself? To address these questions, we're inviting experts from research and civil society. Join us to discuss the opportunities and challenges, the present and the future.

Furthermore, prior to the scientific contributions, an art performance by Heide Spitzer - who, alongside her work at the CCCA Service Centre, also works as a freelance artist - will take place under the title "The Beauty of Climate Change":
The paradox in the title describes the habits and objects with which we negatively influence and accelerate climate change. For some people, these hold individual value and beauty. We're aware of their transience, and yet some of us accept this in favour of a supposedly "comfortable" lifestyle.
We can escape negative influences — nature cannot. An artistic performance offers the opportunity to address multiple channels of perception. It can be difficult to stay focused in this artificially created situation.
This year's artistic contribution challenges the audience, through the means of installation, performance and interaction, to approach the topic of climate change in a not entirely comfortable way.
