Climate Review Carinthia 2023

In terms of the areal average, 2023 was the second warmest year on record in Carinthia, behind 2022. Following a record-warm September and the second warmest October, Carinthia ultimately experienced its warmest autumn on record. With an average annual total of 1483 mm, it was the second wettest year since 1961. Very high precipitation amounts fell in July, August, and December. The precipitation intensities in early August corresponded, in parts of Carinthia, to an event that occurs less than once every 100 years.
