The 24th Austrian Climate Day has been certified according to the criteria of the Austrian Ecolabel for Green Events and Green Meetings. Please help us make this a sustainable event and take the opportunity to make your stay an environmentally conscious one. Together, we're making a statement: our commitment goes well beyond theory. Because when it comes to putting sustainability goals into practice, every individual active contribution counts.
Information for Participants
- Please choose an environmentally friendly way to travel, or arrange carpooling where possible.
- If you can't avoid using a car, or if you're travelling by plane, you can offset the resulting CO2 emissions through compensation payments.
- Please use public transport or travel on foot.
- Please support us on-site with the travel survey. We're carrying this out as part of the Green Meeting certification process in order to arrange subsequent CO2 compensation (see below). To do this, we'll ask for your postcode and mode of transport at registration (e.g. by bike, by public transport).
- Where possible, please choose an environmentally certified hotel (Austrian Ecolabel, European Ecolabel, EMAS, etc.).
- Make use of your hotel's eco-friendly options (changing towels and bed linen only when necessary, etc.).
- Please switch off all lights and electronic devices (TV, air conditioning, heating, computer, etc.) when you temporarily leave your hotel room.
- Please help us with waste prevention and waste separation, both at the hotel and at the conference.
- Reusables are good for the environment: opt for drinks served in open containers, food on proper crockery, milk and sugar without individual portion packaging, etc.
- Please dispose of your waste (PET, glass, paper, metal, batteries, etc.) using the separate collection points provided at the event.
- Where possible, please use digital materials, and bring your own stationery if you can.
- Please return your badges/name tags to the information desk at the end of the event.
- Please note: all materials brought along for poster presentations/project presentations, such as roll-ups, are reusable and will be reused.
CO2 Compensation
The Austrian Climate Day 2024 is being organised to be as climate- and environmentally friendly as possible. This includes a climate-friendly buffet, eco-friendly printed materials, and easy access to the venues by public transport, bike, or on foot. Communication and the collective will to make a statement also play an important role.
The motto is: avoid and reduce climate-damaging greenhouse gases! Any CO2 emissions that are nevertheless generated by participants travelling to the Climate Day will be offset by CCCA through the CO2 compensation system of the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna.
