In 2020, Vienna recorded its fifth warmest year in meteorological history. The year was 2.0 °C above average. The record-warm February, with an extreme temperature anomaly of nearly 6 °C, resembled a spring month. The winter of 2019/20 as a whole is the second warmest in climate records.
