Information for Participants

  • We're trying to make it as easy as possible for you to travel here by public transport.
  • Please choose an environmentally friendly way of travelling, or join a carpool, wherever possible.
  • If you can't avoid using a car, or if you're travelling by plane, you can offset the resulting CO2 emissions through compensation payments.
  • Please choose an environmentally certified hotel (Austrian Ecolabel, European Ecolabel, EMAS, etc.) wherever possible.
  • Make use of the eco-friendly options your hotel offers (only having towels and bed linen changed when needed, etc.).
  • Switch off all lights and electronic devices (TV, air conditioning, heating, computer, etc.) when you temporarily leave your hotel room.
  • Reusables are good for the environment: opt for drinks served in glasses, food on crockery, milk and sugar without individual portion packaging, etc.
  • Please dispose of your waste (PET, glass, paper, metal, batteries, etc.) using the separate collection points provided at the event.
  • Use public transport or travel on foot.
  • Bring your own stationery.
  • Please hand in your badges/name tags at the information desk at the end of the event.

CO2 Offsetting

The Klimatag 2017 aims to be organised in as climate- and environmentally friendly a way as possible. This includes a climate-friendly buffet, eco-friendly printing of the programme booklet, and easy access to the venues by public transport, bicycle or on foot. Communication and a shared commitment to making a statement also play an important role.

The motto is: avoid and reduce harmful greenhouse gases!
Any CO2 emissions still generated by participants travelling to the Klimatag will be offset by CCCA through BOKU's CO2 offsetting scheme.

For more information about the offsetting scheme, please visit BOKU CO2 Kompensationssystem

Travel

The 18th Austrian Klimatag is to be certified under the guidelines of the Austrian Ecolabel Green Meetings & Green Events.

Our request to you:

  • Where possible, please choose an environmentally friendly way of travelling to Vienna, using public transport or a carpool.
  • If public transport isn't an option for you, you have the possibility of offsetting the CO2 emissions from your journey. By making a monetary contribution equivalent to the distance you've travelled, you can support environmental protection projects and help improve the global climate situation. To make the conference as environmentally friendly as possible — including travel — we'd really appreciate your participation.
