CCCA Early Career Award
At the Klimatag 2017, the CCCA Early Career Award will once again be presented.
The CCCA aims to motivate young researchers to produce scientific publications through the Early Career Award and to recognise their efforts with a prize. All submissions will be evaluated by renowned scientists, and each submitter will receive review-like feedback on their submitted paper. The best paper will additionally receive a prize of 1,000 euros at the Klimatag.
Requirements for participation
- The paper must be presented at the Klimatag as a poster or as a talk.
- Age of the first author: without a doctorate, younger than 35 years; with a doctorate, max. 7 years after completion of the doctorate
- Timely submission of a scientific paper for the Austrian Klimatag
- The submitted paper has not yet been published. Papers that have arisen from master's theses are welcome. Papers that have been submitted but not yet published will also be considered. In this case, the relevant journal must be specified.
- The submitter must be present at the award ceremony.
- Declaration of co-authorship upon submission: The submitter must have largely conceived, analysed, and written the work themselves. In the case of co-authorships, the submission must indicate how the creation of the work was divided among the co-authors.
Criteria for the Early Career Award
- The thematic context as well as the relevance of the contribution to the current discussion on climate change must be clearly presented.
- The work should make clear why it is innovative or why it makes an innovative contribution to the climate change debate.
- The research question and results of the paper must be presented in a way that is accessible to a general audience.
- The work must be methodologically sound.
- The work must demonstrate knowledge of the relevant literature.
- Figures and tables must be informative and easy to read.
- The contribution should not exceed 9,000 words and must include keywords.
- The contribution may be written in English or German.
Prize money and process
- A prize of 1,000 euros will be awarded.
- The paper must be submitted by 6 April 2017. Please send your paper as a PDF document to klimatag@ccca.ac.at with the note "Submission Early Career Award". Please include proof of the age criteria with your submission.
- Submitters will be notified of the outcome of the selection process in mid-May 2017.
- The award ceremony will take place on 24 May 2017 as part of the Klimatag.
Poster Award
During the Klimatag, participants have the opportunity to rate the posters on display. Based on this, a jury will award the Poster Award.
The poster must meet the following criteria:
- The poster is visually appealing and its message is clearly understandable.
- The content of the poster is of high scientific quality and innovative.
- The content of the poster has high scientific and societal relevance.
The jury will recognise the three best posters that meet all three criteria. Prizes will only be awarded to posters whose authors are represented by at least one person at the award ceremony on 24 May 2017.
First place carries a prize of 500 euros.
