Climate Review Carinthia 2024

2024 was by far the warmest year on record in Carinthia, with a mean temperature of 7.7 °C (anomaly +2.8 °C). The monthly mean temperatures for February and August were each the warmest on record for the federal state. Overall, 7 months achieved top 10 rankings. Following the extremely mild period from early February to mid-April, a cold air intrusion combined with snowfall and storms caused power outages and significant disruptions to road traffic. The summer heat, combined with low precipitation in August, caused considerable damage to agriculture and forestry.
