Climate Review Upper Austria 2024

2024 was, with a mean temperature of 10.3 °C (deviation +3.1 °C), by far the warmest year in Upper Austria's measurement history, surpassing the previously warmest year 2018 by 0.4 °C. Winter 2023/2024 and Spring 2024 were both record-warm seasons, and a total of 8 months ranked among the Top 10 warmest months. The midsummer heatwave lasted from mid-June, without any significant interruption, through to early September. From mid-July to early September, a notable precipitation deficit also built up. Persistent rainfall combined with heavy downpours at the end of May/beginning of June led to flooding in parts of the state.
