Climate Review Vienna 2024

2024 was, with a mean temperature of 12.9 °C (deviation +3.2 °C), by far the warmest year in Vienna's measurement history, surpassing the previously warmest year 2023 by 0.5 °C. Starting with the winter of 2023/2024, Vienna experienced three record-warm seasons in a row. The summer heat reached new record values in the Vienna city centre, with 72 Kysely days and 52 heat days. Following the extremely mild period from early February to mid-April and the associated advanced plant development, a cold air intrusion in the second half of April caused significant damage to fruit and wine growing.
