Climate Review Styria 2024

2024 was by far the warmest year on record in Styria, with a mean temperature of 8.9 °C (anomaly +3.0 °C). Starting with the winter of 2023/2024, Styria experienced three record-warm seasons in a row. Following the extremely mild period from early February to mid-April, and the correspondingly advanced plant development, a cold air intrusion in the second half of April caused extensive damage to fruit and wine growing. The summer heat, combined with relatively low precipitation, led to considerable damage in agriculture and forestry.
