Award Ceremony

CCCA Early Career Award

The CCCA Early Career Award will be presented again at the 2016 Klimatag.

CCCA would like to use the Early Career Award to motivate young researchers to produce scientific publications and recognise their work with a prize. All submissions will be evaluated by renowned scientists, and every contributor will receive review-style feedback on their submitted paper. The best paper will additionally receive a prize of 1,000 euros at the Klimatag.

Eligibility Requirements

  • The paper must be presented at the Klimatag either as a poster or as a talk.
  • Age of the first author: without a doctorate, under 35 years of age; with a doctorate, a maximum of 7 years after completing the doctorate
  • Submission of a scientific paper
  • The submitted paper has not previously been published.
  • The applicant must be present at the award ceremony.

Criteria for the Early Career Award

  • The relevance of the contribution to the current discussion on climate change must be clearly demonstrated.
  • The research question and findings of the paper must be presented in a way that's accessible to a general audience.
  • The work must be methodologically sound.
  • Figures and tables must be informative and easy to read.
  • The work must demonstrate familiarity with the relevant literature.
  • The contribution should not exceed 6,000 words, must include keywords, and should follow the guidelines of a journal relevant to the field, which should also be specified.
  • The contribution may be written in English or German, depending on the journal.

Prize Money and Process

  • A prize of 1,000 euros will be awarded.
  • Papers must be submitted by 10 March 2016. Please send your paper as a PDF document to klimatag@ccca.ac.at with the subject line "Einreichung Nachwuchspreis". Please include proof of eligibility with regard to the age criteria with your submission.
  • Contributors will be notified of the outcome of the selection process at the end of March 2016.
  • The award ceremony will take place on 8 April 2016 as part of the Klimatag.

 

Poster Prize

During the Klimatag, participants will have the opportunity to rate the posters on display. Based on this, a jury will award the Poster Prize.

The poster must meet the following criteria:

  •     The poster is visually appealing and its message is clearly understandable.
  •     The content of the poster is of high scientific quality and innovative.
  •     The content of the poster is of high scientific and societal relevance.


The jury will recognise the three best posters that meet all three criteria. Prizes will only be awarded to posters whose authors are represented at the award ceremony on 8 April 2016 by at least one person.

First place carries a prize of 500 euros.
