The 20th Austrian Climate Day is certified as a Green Meeting. The Climate Day is therefore organised to the highest environmental standards and follows the criteria of the Austrian Ecolabel UZ62 for Green Meetings and Green Events.
Information for Participants
- We'll do our best to make it as easy as possible for you to travel here by public transport.
- Please choose an environmentally friendly way of getting here if you can, or share a lift with others.
- If you can't avoid using a car, or if you're travelling by plane, you can offset the resulting CO2 emissions through compensation payments.
- Please choose an environmentally certified hotel where possible (Austrian Ecolabel, European Ecolabel, EMAS, etc.).
- Make use of the eco-friendly options your hotel offers (only having towels and bed linen changed when necessary, etc.).
- Turn off all lights and electronic devices (TV, air conditioning, heating, computer, etc.) when you temporarily leave your hotel room.
- Reusables are better for the environment: go for drinks served in open containers, food on proper plates, and milk and sugar without individual portion packaging, etc.
- Please dispose of your waste (PET, glass, paper, metal, batteries, etc.) using the separate collection points provided at the event.
- Use public transport or get around on foot.
- Bring your own writing materials.
- Please return your badges / name tags to the information desk at the end of the event.
CO2 Offsetting
The 2019 Climate Day aims to be organised in as climate- and environmentally friendly a way as possible. This includes a climate-friendly buffet, eco-friendly printing of the programme booklet, and easy access to the venues by public transport, bicycle, or on foot. Communication and a shared commitment to making a statement also play an important role.
The guiding principle is: avoid and reduce harmful greenhouse gases! Any CO2 emissions that are nonetheless generated by participants travelling to the Climate Day will be offset by CCCA through the CO2 offsetting system of the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences.
Further information about the offsetting system can be found at BOKU CO2 Kompensationssystem.
The 20th Austrian Climate Day is licensed by the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna, and the criteria of the Austrian Ecolabel UZ62 for "Green Meetings and Green Events" are being pursued.
