The CCCA Early Career Award will once again be presented at the 2019 Klimatag. With this award, CCCA aims to shine a spotlight on and recognise the scientific achievements of young researchers. Submissions take the form of a scientific publication, which will be evaluated by renowned scientists. Every participant will receive written feedback on their submitted paper. The best paper will be awarded a prize of 1,000 euros at the Klimatag.
Requirements for participation
- Timely submission of a scientific paper for the Early Career Award.
- The submitted paper must have either already been published in a scientific journal (in 2018 or 2019) or submitted to a journal. In both cases, the relevant journal must be specified. Papers that are in a submittable state will also be considered.
- The submitter must be the sole or first author and must have largely conceived, analysed, and written the work themselves. In the case of co-authorships, the submission must indicate how the work was divided among the co-authors.
- Age of the author: max. 7 years after highest academic degree.
- The submitter must be present at the award ceremony and present the paper at the Klimatag.
Criteria for the Early Career Award
- The thematic context and the relevance of the contribution to the current debate on climate change must be clearly outlined.
- The work should make clear why it is innovative or makes an innovative contribution to the climate change debate.
- The research question and findings of the paper must be presented in a way that is easy to understand for a general audience.
- The work must be methodologically sound.
- The work must demonstrate familiarity with the relevant literature.
- Figures and tables must be meaningful and easy to read.
- The contribution should not exceed 9,000 words and must include an abstract and keywords.
- The contribution may be written in English or German.
Prize money and process
- A prize of 1,000 euros will be awarded.
- The award ceremony will take place on 26 April 2019 as part of the Klimatag.
