Although 2021 didn't quite reach the extremely high mean temperatures of previous years, it was still far too warm, with a deviation of +1.3 °C. Dry conditions from February to April, in June and in autumn were largely offset by heavy rainfall in July and August. 2021 continued the run of very sunny years, with a surplus of 13 % in sunshine hours. As a result of a prolonged heatwave, June was the third warmest and third sunniest since records began. Over the course of the entire summer, St. Pölten recorded six tropical nights — the second highest figure in 79 years.
