On average across Upper Austria, 2022 was the second warmest year since records began, behind 2018, and in some higher elevations even the warmest year on record. Individual months were also extremely warm: October came in as the warmest month, while May, June, and August ranked as the fifth warmest months in their respective comparison series. March stood out as the second driest and simultaneously the sunniest March month since at least 1961. For the eighth consecutive year, the year brought an unusually high number of sunshine hours. The sunshine surplus amounts to 15%.
