Climate Review Styria 2022

2022 narrowly broke the still recent temperature record from 2019: it was, on average across Styria, the warmest year since records began. October ranked as the warmest month, while May and June were the fourth warmest months in their respective comparison series. Summer as a whole was the third warmest on record, behind 2003 and 2019. The exceptional warmth coincided particularly in the south and east with a significant precipitation deficit. Across Styria, 2022 was the driest year since 2003. March stood out as the fourth driest and simultaneously the sunniest March month since at least 1961. In Graz, air temperature did not drop below 20 °C on seven nights. Only in 2013 were more tropical nights recorded than in 2022…
