Climate Review Salzburg 2022

On average across Salzburg, 2022 was the second warmest year since records began, behind 2018, and in higher elevations it was even the warmest year on record. Individual months were also extremely warm: October ranked as the warmest month, while May and June ranked as the third warmest months in their respective comparison series. March stood out as the driest and simultaneously the sunniest March since at least 1961. At Sonnblick (3,109 m) in the Hohe Tauern, the lowest fresh snowfall accumulation in March was recorded, and on 6 July the earliest date of snow clearance since the start of snow depth measurements in 1938 was registered.
