Climate Review Vorarlberg 2022

2022 clearly broke the still recent temperature record from 2018: it was, on average across Vorarlberg, the warmest year since records began. May and October ranked as the warmest months in their respective comparison series. Summer was the second hottest in meteorological history, behind 2003. March stood out as the driest and simultaneously the sunniest March month since at least 1961. Regarding dryness, the same applies to spring as a whole. Despite a cloudy September, 2022 ranks third among the sunniest years in Vorarlberg since 1961. On 19 August, 212 mm of rain fell in Bregenz (records dating back to 1936) within a single day! That's a new state record. The station record also fell at Feldkirch, which has the longest measurement series (167 mm, since 1895)…
